TUTORIAL || Dr. Helen Magnus [Sanctuary]

Friday, 30 January 2015

Welcome to this week's Fandom Friday, everyone! This week brings you a make-up tutorial for the glorious and impeccable Helen Magnus from SyFy's Sanctuary. I loooooved this show. I loved everything about it, the writing, the characters, the green screen, the kick-ass-ness, the actors and the oh-so-hot actors and now because I've become so obsessed with make-up, I've found a new appreciation for the make-up that was used on Amanda Tapping's character, Doctor Helen Magnus. So with all that being said... Shall we begin? See what I did there?

Girl Online || Zoe Sugg [Zoella]

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

When I found out that YouTube's very own phenomenon Zoella aka Zoe Sugg was releasing her very first novel, I knew that I would inevitably own it. One chance day shopping in Belfast lead me to Waterstone's and to purchasing Zoe's book, Girl Online. I finally got around to finishing it - don't judge. My attention span is that of a grapefruit at times and I still have to finish A Dance With Dragons by George R. R. Martin and I only have 100 pages to go and yet managed 24 Star Trek related books in a month. Where was I? Oh yes, Zoe's book...

Essie || Thigh High

Monday, 26 January 2015

Two days off agaaaaaain! Whoop whoop! Okay, confession time; sometimes I do break the rules at work and wear blatantly colourful nail varnishes at work and risk it getting chipped beyond belief because I don't care, I'm being awesome and breaking the uniform rules! But I'm having my own weekend after everyone else's weekend and I decided to paint my nails.

Jo Malone || English Pear and Freesia

Friday, 23 January 2015

Whoa, whoa, whoa! How is this a fandom post? Kazzie, it's Fandom Friday day, what the heck? Well, dear friends, I will tell you why I'm doing this. Jo Malone's English Pear and Freesia cologne just so happens to be the fragrance of choice of one, Mary McDonnell.

A L'Oreal Mascara That I'm Loving

Wednesday, 21 January 2015

I'm going to take you all on another trip down memory lane. My first ever blog post was about three purchases that I made while on a day out. These were spur of the moment purchases and had no real reason beyond the fact that I was looking for something new to play with. You can tell by my oh-so-articulate analysis and reasoning in that post. I'm cringing just reading back over it. My make-up collection was just sprouting at this point and I took any opportunity to see what I could find to add to it. That day I found L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture mascara. But the day of purchase seemed to endeth my relationship with said mascara... Until now.

My Current Favourite Beauty YouTubers

Monday, 19 January 2015

When I became interested in make-up back in May last year, I spent a copious amount of hours watching YouTube videos. I literally spent days just watching these beauty gurus gush about this product and that product and what suits what skin tone and what doesn't suit. I didn't know the first thing about make-up or what even went where. Yes, I was that clueless. They would recommend this product and be completely truthful about what they like and don't like. I was hooked on every word like it was gospel. I wouldn't put a thing to my face until I knew that it was good. I would then go to Boots and pick up what they recommended and what I thought would suit. I'm subscribed to 83 channels on YouTube, some beauty and some not. Below are five of my favourite beauty YouTubers of the moment. This will always be subject to change as I find new channels.

STYLE ICONS || Amanda Tapping

Friday, 16 January 2015

Remember when I posted the Style Icons || Mary McDonnell post a couple of months ago? If not, let's take a little stroll down memory lane by clicking here. All coming back to you now? Awesome! I said that this "Style Icons" kind of post would become a feature on this blog and I know that it has been a while, but here is the next of my style icons. Next up is 'Stargate Barbie' herself, Amanda Tapping. Unlike with the post for Mary McDonnell, this won't be a What-I-Learnt-From-Her-Style post but rather a 'Favourite Red/Purple Carpet Looks' post.

Transforming Oneself

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

Cover photo from Pinterest.

From my Top 5 || Gym Songs post, you may have gathered that I'm on a fitness and health kick to lose some weight that has been creeping up on me lately. We're officially two weeks into 2015 and I'm 13 days into my transformation. In this post, I'm taking you all back to the beginning of the month and talking about how I'm wanting to transform myself for the better and I'm extremely terrified that I am...

FAVOURITES || Maybelline

Monday, 12 January 2015

Maybelline is one of my favourite brands out there. Whenever I'm in Boots, I spend an inordinate amount of time looking at the Maybelline stand to see what's new and to see what shades I don't have but must have because my life ultimately depends on it. I have a nice little collection of Maybelline products gathered since I started becoming interested in make-up and below are some of my favourites.

Get The Look || Mary McDonnell

Friday, 9 January 2015

On Monday, my mum and I were spontaneously wandering around the shops and took a duck into Peacocks just to have a wee nosey at their sale. I tend to gravitate towards the shoe section (hola, my fellow shoe-aholics!) and this day was no different. I looked up and down the shelves and turned a corner and came face-to-shoe with the pumps that would inspire this entire post. As soon as my eyes hit those shoes in the store, this blog post started to write itself and demand to be posted as this week's Fandom Friday post.

Cleaner Make-Up Brushes For Under £2

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

We all need to clean our make-up brushes fact, because those things take a battering with all of the different products that are used on them every day, not to mention the bacteria that will accumulate in between those bristles Like our skin, our brushes need some TLC too. I have a daily cleanser that I bought in Sephora Italia that disinfects and cleanses and it does a decent job. But from time to time it is good to give your make-up brushes a deeper clean. Here is how I get my brushes squeaky clean.

Top 5 || Gym Songs

Monday, 5 January 2015

"New Year, New You," is what a lot of people promise themselves whenever that clock strikes midnight on December 31st. For me, this 'New You' transformation is a constant battle with new endeavours being made several times a year but those darned chocolate bars just keep ending up in my hands and inevitably, in my stomach... But I do love to go to the gym whenever I find the motivation and whenever that happens, my trusty iPod is right at my side with a playlist of songs that get me moving and get me to push through that 'I can't keep going! I'm going to have a heartattack' phase when my inner voice is being oh-so melodramatic. I'm going to share with you the 5 songs that are my power songs within that playlist;

Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5
Sandstorm - Darude
Hypertension - AudioMachine
Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) - Kelly Clarkson
Better Off Alone - Alice Deejay

These aren't the first 5 songs that are on my playlist but they are the ones that get me moving when I don't think that I can even blink nevermind run an extra thirty seconds. With Sandstorm and Hypertension, I love to crank up the speed and really go for it. Hypertension is only 76 seconds long and for that short period of time, I go full throttle. I love how it makes me get over that complacency of running and to really challenge myself to go for it. The music just motivates you to really go for it.

What are your favourite songs to get a sweat-on to?

A Beauty-Full Christmas

Sunday, 4 January 2015

This marked the first Christmas where I actually wanted beauty products to be in that stocking from Santa. Never would my friends or family have imagined such a day to exist. Previously, I would have received a selection box of cheap nail varnishes or cheap make-up brushes that would have worked better as paint brushes. I would always wonder if people were trying to tell me something when they always gifted me with make-up. This year, I couldn't wait to see if any make-up was being hidden by the wrapping paper.

Get The Look || Captain Sharon Raydor [The Trenchcoat]

Friday, 2 January 2015

Everyone loves Raydor's trenchcoat, right? Well I love it and it is the most iconic piece in her wardrobe. You first see Captain Raydor in her trenchcoat in her first appearance on The Closer and several times throughout Major Crimes and it set a precedence that whenever she wears it, you know that she means business! I received a request to source trenchcoats a la Raydor from a viewer (thank you. Nicole). I simply jumped at the opportunity to look for trenchcoats and Macs because they are very much on trend right now. I had so many options to choose from that I had a list as long as my arm. With so many to choose from I managed to whittle it down to 12 - some made from heavier materials for those that are burdened with colder climes and others for those milder temperatures.
