August Favourites || 2015

Monday, 31 August 2015

When I look back on August, I don't see to have an awful lot of memories for it because it seems to have gone by in a whirlwind. It used to do that when I was in school but I haven't been in school for years so it's strange that it's flown by. Nevertheless, I have a number of favourite things from August, and a few of them a repeat offenders because I've been loving them so much!

TUTORIAL || Felicity Smoak [Arrow] Drugstore Makeup

Friday, 28 August 2015

My Arrow makeup series continues on my YouTube channel with a makeup tutorial for one of my favourite characters, Felicity Smoak. Felicity's makeup is very understated in terms of what she does to her eyes. Sometimes she'll do a smokier look but most of the times, it's very understated and natural whilst her cheeks and lips do most of the talking. Felicity's signature look is that bright lip colour and that's what I've tried to emulate in this tutorial.

TUTORIAL || Steampunk Beauty & Miner Look

Wednesday, 26 August 2015

Another tutorial this week? Yep! Another tutorial and there will be another on Friday! I'm spoiling you! This is a bit of an impromptu requested video for a dear, dear friend of mine and she needed it toots-sweet. I did a little fiddling with my calendar - who am I kidding? I have no calender! I found this little window for her that would suit. She requested a Steampunk makeup tutorial that had the googles/dirty-face look. She wanted to learn how to make it look like she didn't use put a whole load of eyeshadow on her face. I don't know about how to make it look like you didn't do that because that's precisely what I did, haha. With this tutorial, you get a two-for-one, in that, you get a beauty tutorial aaaaaand a biker/miner makeup look too. Win!

TUTORIAL || Lady Seymour Worsley [The Scandalous Lady W] Makeup

Monday, 24 August 2015

A surprise Monday tutorial but it isn't Fandom Friday related. I decided to do this tutorial rather spontaneously after watching The Scandalous Lady W on BBC2 last week. It starred Natalie Dormer as the scandalous lady in question, and Natalie is an absolute goddess! I've been watching her for years and years. She's amazing in everything that she does and as soon as I saw the trailer for this, I knew that I had to watch it. The 90 minute drama is about the life of Lady Seymour Worsley and I was instantly mesmerized by the costumes and the makeup used. Natalie looked, without a doubt, flawless! A true porcelain beauty. Cue me wishing that I looked like her and then deciding to attempt to recreate her look.

STYLE ICONS || Katie McGrath

Sunday, 23 August 2015

The most obscure style icons series continues with Katie McGrath of Merlin, Dracula and Jurassic World fame. I came across Katie when she played Lady Morgana in BBC's Merlin. She played the character for five years before the series was ended. Then came Dracula and this year saw her big screen debut as Zara in Jurassic World.

TUTORIAL || The Arrow [Arrow] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 21 August 2015

Today's tutorial is inspired by the Arrow/ The Hood/ The Vigilante from the show that I've been obsessing over for weeks, Arrow. My sis from another miss got me hooked on this show and I thank her every single day for it. I know it's not everybody's favourite show but it currently is mine and I wanted to do a look inspired by the colours of the Arrow. The pictures don't do the eyeshadow justice. It looks better in the tutorial, I promise.

Confessions of a Driver

Wednesday, 19 August 2015

I've been driving for close to seven years now and in that time I have learnt a lot about the way that other people on the rode like to, or in some cases don't like to, drive. Aaaaaand, I may have picked up a little bit of road rage along the way. Here are my confessions of being a driver - in gif form.

The Best Brush Cleanser for When I Can't Get to Sephora

Monday, 17 August 2015

I was first introduced to makeup brush cleansers when I was in Sephora in Venice last year. The girl that worked there asked if I had picked up the brush cleanser for the brushes that I picked up. My answer was 'No' and she ran and picked it up for me. I loved it and I used it all up within a couple of months. When I went back to Barcelona's Sephora in April, I was chomping at the bit to get another bottle. In between, I tried Stargazer's cleanser but it didn't come with a handy dandy spray applicator so it resulted in a lot of waste. Then, I picked up a nifty little bottle on a whim at Superdrug.

TUTORIAL || Two-Face/Joker [DC Comics] Inspired Look

Friday, 14 August 2015

At long LAST this is posted. Yes, on a Saturday despite the fact it is for Fandom Friday. You can thank my lovely laptop for that. It nearly became a very heavy frisbee numerous times because it was just not cooperating and my patience was wearing extremely thin. Nevertheless, the tutorial is finally here. This week is a makeup look inspired by the villain Two-Face from Batman. Yet, whilst I was doing it, I got carried away and kind of merged the Joker in there. This is why I should print of face charts. Winging it is sometimes not the best idea. However, I do love how this turned out.

Look Good Feel Better || Makeup Brushes

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

If there is one thing that I've really loved about becoming interested in makeup, it has been makeup brushes. Long gone are the foam applicators that come with products. Those are the first thing to go - even before the packaging. So whenever I'm in Boots, Superdrug, Sephora or anywhere with makeup, I end up looking at the brushes for far longer than should be necessary. Recently, my little eye noticed a new kid on the block at Boots, Look Good Feel Better

TUTORIAL || 'Good' Morgana Le Fay [Merlin] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 7 August 2015

To finish up the Merlin series I seemed to have fallen into, I'm bringing you a tutorial inspired by Morgana Le Fay. A look inspired by the early seasons when she was Lady Morgana, Uther's ward, an innocent young woman who was beginning to find her voice and place in the world and just discovering that she had a gift. Not that she knew what that gift was but she had a pure heart, conviction of character and a desire to help those around her by following her heart. I was largely inspired by a season 2 promotional still from one of my favourite episodes, "The Fires of Idirsholas"

July Favourites || 2015

Monday, 3 August 2015

July was.... an interesting month. It went by without a hitch yet it felt like the longest month to date. January usually feels like a long month yet this year's was a fast one. Wish I could say that for July. It feels like I was on Vision of the Seas four months ago instead of four weeks. Nevertheless, it's August now and I have a couple of favourites. I had the idea of filming this month's favourites but I'm not the most articulate in front of the camera just yet but I'll get there. So let's go ahead and get into it.
