TUTORIAL || Nova Corps [Guardians of the Galaxy] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 27 May 2016

FUN FACT: When I started filming this tutorial I was going in with an idea in mind of a look inspired by the new Rita Repulsa promotional pictures from the upcoming Power Rangers movie. Half-way through filming, I realised that it looked more like the Nova Corps fighter crafts from Guardians of the Galaxy and in that moment, this tutorial was fully born. And another Marvel tutorial was added to my channel.

I had been wanting to do a look inspired by the colours of the Nova Corps craft used during the battle in Guardians of the Galaxy. Every time I watched the movie, I had ideas flowing through my mind of looks that I wanted to try. I knew that I wanted to do one soon but had no idea that it would be this soon. But when that inspiration hits and it works out, you gotta roll with it.

BEAUTY SECRETS || Concealers

Concealer is the secret weapon of the beauty world. It can hide a multiple a sins but it can also bring out features of the face that can shape it in a whole new way. Over the past two years I have been experimenting with the potential possibilities that concealers hold by trying a lot of concealers on the market and I think I've figured out a few tricks to get the best results.

TUTORIAL || Quicksilver [Marvel Cinematic Universe] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 20 May 2016

Another Marvel makeup look, this time it is inspired by Quicksilver aka Pietro Maximoff. I was inspired by the top that he wore in the final battle in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I have already done two looks inspired by his sister Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch with a third on the way so it was about time that Pietro got some love. Heck, I've even done a look inspired by his father, Magneto (from the Marvel comic universe).

Just a little eye-candy for you all and you know, the inspiration.

PICSPAM || Inch Abbey aka Moat Cailin in Game of Thrones

Wednesday, 18 May 2016

The weather was beautiful last week that I decided to go out again and take some photographs of the local beauty. This time, I went out to the ruins of Inch Abbey

The Cistercian abbey was founded by John de Courcy in atonement for the destruction of the Erenagh Abbey which was several kilometres south of the site of Inch Abbey in 1177. It was then inhabited by monks from Furness Abbey in Lancashire and the displaced Erenagh monks.

Most people may recognise the site as the location for Moat Cailin in the hit television programme, Game of Thrones This is the location where Robb Stark was named King of the North. A roof was computer-generated onto the ruins to make it appear as if they were eating in a great hall .There is also footage of Catelyn Stark walking past some of the existing walls to nearby trees. Those trees are there and Inch Abbey can be seen in the background. She is also seen walking towards a dungeon where they are holding a captive Jaime Lannister. Where Jaime was held, that was brought by the production crew.

If you would like to learn more about Inch Abbey, check this site here for more information. Without further adieu, may I present to you, Inch Abbey.

TUTORIAL || The Goo Goo Dolls 'Boxes' Album Art Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 13 May 2016

I have been a fan of the Goo Goo Dolls since 'Iris' was released back in the day when it was the theme song from 'City of Angels' starring Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan. Maybe fifteen or so years. God, I feel old now. I loved that movie and I quickly became obsessed with this song and the music video. I still want a jacket like the one Johnny Rzeznik wore in the music video.

Since then, I've been loving their music and albums. Dizzy Up The Girl is my favourite album but their latest release, 'Boxes' is giving it a run for its money. 'Boxes' was released last Friday and since then I have been listening to practically nothing else. When I went for my walk the other day - blog post about here - I listened to Boxes on repeat. It listened to it about three times that day. That's a lot.

When they released the album artwork, I wasn't particularly blown away by it. That was until I listened to the album and it made so much sense and then some. An epiphacal moment happened. Is that even a word? Epiphacal? Epiphical? Epiphany moment? We'll go with that. Then this look was born.

Confessions of A Retail Assisant #2

Wednesday, 11 May 2016

If you've been around this blog for a while, you'll know that I work in retail with all the glitz and glamour that it entails. Aaaaand all the types of customers that venture through the automatic doors. Naturally, there are moments when I went to shove a customers head in the freezers and slam the door repeatedly or take them by the scruff of the collar and throw them out on their arse. But I can't do that. But I can give you an insight into the realms of a worker of retail.

PICSPAM || Walk With Me [Ireland]

Monday, 9 May 2016

The weather was absolutely beautiful here in Ireland yesterday. At 10am, it was raining cats and dogs and then within an hour, the sun was splitting the sky at a blistering 23*C. The official melting point of an Irish person. So, instead of taking a nap after work, I pulled on my shoes and went for a walk. I took my camera with me for company.

Things That I've Learnt From Running

Sunday, 8 May 2016

When the weather is dry outside, I like to go for a run outside. I'm not the fastest runner but at least I'm moving faster than walking. At times walking by myself can be rather boring and so I go for a run.

TUTORIAL || Magneto [Marvel] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 6 May 2016

I'm on such a Marvel kick, aren't it? I not even going to apologise because I love Marvel and it is inspiring me like crazy. This tutorial was inspired by the comic book version of Magneto from X-Men that has a purple and red costume. I only used two eye shadows for this look (four, if you want to highlight the brow bone and inner corner of your eye).

I absolutely love how this look turned out. I actually wore it to a screening of Captain America: Civil War (my third viewing of said movie) and I usually take my makeup off immediately after filming. I kept this on all day.

TUTORIAL || Iron Man [Marvel] Inspired Makeup Look

Tuesday, 3 May 2016

I couldn't do a Captain America themed makeup look for the release of Captain America: Civil War without doing a look for Iron Man. I had planned on not doing one but a friend coaxed me into it.

I was largely inspired by Steampunk and Egyptian makeup when trying to come up with this look with particular reference to Egyptian with the lines that were iconic in their makeup. Hey presto, Iron Man makeup look.

At the time of publication, I have been to see Captain America: Civil War three times. It is such an epic movie. I don't think I'll ever get bored of it. It cannot put into words how much I love it.
