My Top Red Lip Colours That Are Perfect For Christmas

Wednesday, 23 December 2015

Red lips is the most synonymous of makeup trends for the festive period. I wore a red lip last year for Christmas Day and I had never felt more Christmassey or as glamorous on Christmas Day in my life. I wore winged liner and a red lip and I loved it. This year, I have so many red lip products to choose from and I thought that I share with you some of my favourites that will be contenders for Christmas Day.

Winterize Your Beauty

Monday, 21 December 2015

With the winter months comes a change in temperature, a change in fashion (woollies and layers galore), a change in eating habits (all the hot food, please!), and also a change in your makeup routine. This winter is only my second winter where I've been interested in makeup. Last year, I don't believe I had a true grasp of what I wanted out of my makeup or really had any clue about what I was doing. This year, I think I have a better idea and have begun to be more confident with my makeup, makeup choices and my beauty routine and how I would 'winterize' it.

TUTORIAL || Star Wars The Light Side 'The Mystic' x Pat McGrath

Friday, 18 December 2015

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens is out in the cinemas and I have yet to see it. It has been out for far too long without me watching it. I'm hoping to see it very soon, as in, this weekend. If I don't, I will scream. In the mean time, here is a tutorial inspired by Star Wars. It is Fandom Friday after-all. I did promise last week that I would be doing a Light Side makeup look from the Covergirl/Max Factor x Pat McGrath campaign. Here it is...

One Brand Makeup // L'Oreal

Wednesday, 16 December 2015

For today's makeup tutorial, I decided to give myself a challenge. I challenged myself to only do my makeup using one brand. I chose L'Oreal because I had pretty much everything I would need for it. I had foundations, concealers, powders, eyeshadows, mascaras and lip products from the brand. Their mascaras comprise most of my mascara collection now that I think about it. I needed to do my makeup anyway as I was going to the dentist (fun times) so it's a day-time appropriate look with a nude lip because I didn't want the dentist to ruin my lips with the utensils. I will probably do a night-time look in the future if anyone is interested in that.

My Top 10 Christmas Films

Sunday, 13 December 2015

I'm usually not the most Christmassy of people. I used to be when I was little but when I got older and it became a kind of inclusion and exclusion game at school, my interest dwindled. Now, we don't decorate until the week of Christmas. I don't count-down the sleeps until Christmas Day (but I am counting down to Star Wars). I don't go to Christmas parties. But I do love the food, the craic, the wine and the movies that will be shown on TV. In recent years, television progamming has been a bit rubbish. I used to highlight the TV guide with everything that I wanted to watch - all the movies and the TV Christmas specials, especially the Strictly Come Dancing special. There are a number of films that get me into the Festive Season. So, in alphabetical order....

TUTORIAL || Star Wars The Dark Apprentice x Pat McGrath Makeup

Friday, 11 December 2015

Star Wars VII is out next week. I repeat Star Wars is out next week. Nevermind Christmas. This movie has been what my December has been about and what I've been counting down my sleeps towards. I cannot contain my excitement about this movie. It is the fourth Star Wars movie to be made in my lifetime (and I hope not the last) and this makes me stupidly excited because it has the original cast in it. How can you not love that? Han and Leia! Dear lawd, Han and Leia! Han and Leia were my first ship before I even knew what a ship was. Before the word was even used for that and was just a fancy boat! They were my first favourite couple basically.

How I Remove My Makeup

Wednesday, 9 December 2015

I've wanted to share this for a while now but only got around to it now. This is a quick video on how I take my makeup off after I've filmed a tutorial or at the end of the day. It's been effective at removing the most dramatic of looks or the most subtle with just four products.

I've been using the Deliplus remover since April - having repurchased it several times since. I hope that I can get more when I'm in Barcelona in June. I doubt though that I can make my last bottle last that long. The Aveeno lotion has been incredible to my skin. Every now and then my skin breaks out in dry patches, particularly around and on my eyelids. I picked this lotion up when I last saw the signs and I haven't had an outbreak since. It's not what you'd call a face moisturiser but that's what I use it for.

It's a very quick process and that's what I love about it.

November Favourites 2015

Monday, 7 December 2015

Where did November go? For real. Where did it go? It feels like yesterday I was at the SSE Arena for Belfast Film and Comic Con at Hallowe'en and now it's now rolling onto Christmas season. What the eff?! Christmas season. Not ready. Not ready at all. Nevertheless, a few things have made this month memorable for me so let's get into it.

200th BLOG POST || Jane Seymour Inspired Christmas Makeup

Sunday, 6 December 2015

Guess what?! This post is my 200th blog post here at kazzified29 and simultaneously it is my 50th YouTube upload! How unreal is that? I cannot believe that I've conceived, constructed and photographed/filmed 200 posts and 50 videos. It doesn't seem like it. It feels like more. Haha. I'm joking. It feels like yesterday I posted my very first post and filmed my first YouTube video. Cliché, I know but there's no other way to possibly put it. Naturally, I wanted to celebrate and what better way to do so than with a Fandom Friday post? I know, I know -  it's Sunday. I did have a tutorial ready to go for Friday but I wasn't happy with it and so postponed it. Today's tutorial is for a makeup look inspired by Jane Seymour's makeup from the Mad Max: Fury film premiere in Cannes earlier in the year.

Re-visiting An Old Hobby

Monday, 30 November 2015

One of my most favoured past-times used to be Art. I used to love sitting with a sketchbook, a motte of colouring pencils and just drawing. I would draw anything that took my fancy - usually something fashion related or an actress that I particularly admired. I used to have an A3 sketchbook attached to me at school even though I wasn't taking Art as a subject (my art teacher nearly killed me when I told her that I wasn't taking the subject to GCSE level). Then it fell to the way side as so many hobbies do.

My Favourite Make-up Brushes

Sunday, 29 November 2015

Makeup brushes are probably my favourite part of my makeup collection. I love makeup brushes. If I'm ever in Boots or Superdrug, I will more-than-likely be found at the makeup brush area. I always love to see if there is something new or if there is something on rollback that I can add to my collection. I'm always excited by makeup brushes and getting a new one is always a thrill. That's why I've grown a collection that takes up seven pots. Yep, seven. Five for eyeshadow brushes and two for face brushes. Naturally, some brushes are favoured more than others and I've decided to share with you my favourites of the lot.

I have two of these. That just goes to show how much I love it. I use it to apply my foundation and I use the second brush to blend out my concealer. It's a fab little brush. I love how narrow it is compared to the Buffing Brush by Real Techniques. For me, it's great to get under the eyes because of the shape of it and it's perfect for blending out concealer on the rest of the face without having to use a smaller brush which would take a lot longer. It's a great little multi-tasker, it can even be used to contour.

I've already raved about this brush - HERE - so it shouldn't be any surprise that it is being featured in this post. Aside from being a beautiful brush, it feels incredible on the skin. I always feel lost when I can't use it because it's either too dirty or still damp from being washed. I simply love this brush and cannot sing its praises enough.

This brush is such a multi-task brush for me. One month I'll consistently use it for foundation and the next I'll use it to apply my setting powder. When I use it for foundation it really applies the product evenly without having to really work at it and it doesn't let me apply too much by holding onto the excess. The same goes for when I use it for powder. It feels so nice against my skin and it's also a great one for getting around all the contours of the face.

E Y E S

These are the brushes that I buy the most often. I always love to see what the brands come out with in terms of eye makeup brushes. I love buying them. I can't help it. I have five pots of eye makeup brushes alone and only two for face brushes - though to be fair, the face brush pots are huge!

I'm including both brushes in this because they're both incredible and they came as a pair. I could easily do an entire makeup look using these two brushes alone. You have a liner end, a smudger, a definer and a blending end. What more could you really need? You could make a insane smokey eye with just these two brushes or a subtle every-day look. The world is your oyster with these babies. They're kind to the skin, they blend shadows out beautifully and they're regularly part of my makeup routine.

MAC 217
I have had my MAC 217 for over a year now and it is pretty battered. It's precision is shot but it's still a damn good brush. It's perfect for blending. It's pretty much the brush that I reach for when putting eyeshadows through my crease or outer V area. It's a very good brush and I'm sure there are cheaper versions out there but whether or not they last as long as this one has is another question. It's over a year old and there is no sign that it's at the end of the road. It may be battered, but the old girl still has some tricks up her sleeve. It just goes to show why it has such a cult following.

I bought this at the veeeeeeery start of my makeup journey. I bought a cheapy kit from the F21 website and thought that I'd be grand with them. Erm, no. Some of the brushes were horrendous and felt like sandpaper against my skin. I don't know how this brush survived and made it into my brush collection. It's become one of my most reached for brushes. I use it for my brows when I'm doing a more dramatic look and I haven't reached for my Soap & Glory Archery eyebrow pencil and I also use it for doing my eyeliner. I use it to apply black eyeshadow to my lashline when I want to go for some subtle liner action. It's so thin that I can get it right into the lashline without depositing too much product. For such a fail set, this brush turned out to be a great wee winner.

This brush is in my makeup routine 99% of the time. This brush and the MAC 217. They are a match made in Crease Heaven. The tapered edge always for some precision and for better blending depending on how you hold it. I use the tip to get the colour down on the corner and then use the rest of the brush to blend it through the crease. There are times when I'm doing my makeup when I will use just this brush. I use it for the crease, the outer corner and for the lid and even the lower lashline. It's one of my favourite brushes of all time and I'm so glad that I picked it up in Barcelona.

This is my go-to brush for my lower lashline. It's small enough to get close to the lashline without making you look like a panda and soft enough to not irritate or tug at the uber sensitive skin of the lower lashline. It's great for smokey eyes and a great little addition for the more adventurous looks.

This is the best flat eyeshadow brush that I have. I have a few. My eyebrush collection is largely made up of blending brushes, how strange is that? When applying lid shadows, I largely prefer to use my finger as the shadows usually apply better like that. But when I do apply lid shadows with a brush, this is the one that I usually use. It packs enough product on the bristles.

At just under £2 this is the dark horse of the bunch. It's the cheapest but don't let that fool you. It's an amazing little kabuki style brush. I use this eyeshadow brush a lot, so much in fact that I've got three of them and I want to get more. At just £1.99, why not? It's dense but not rough. It blends like a dream and feels very luxurious, despite the extremely low price-tag. I would recommend this to anyone - makeup beginner or season pro alike.

They are look a little bedraggled because they were all just cleaned minutes before I took the photos for this post. Oops .

And there you have the pick of the bunch from my makeup brush collection. I adore my brushes but I do covet the likes of Zoeva, Morphe and Sigma. They will become part of my collection one day. My Sigma F80 is lonely. Do you use any of the brushes that I've mentioned? What are your favourite brushes to use?

TUTORIAL || Queen Clarion [Pixie Hollow] Inspired Makeup Look

Friday, 27 November 2015

All week I had been flipping coins and asking people to help me decide between two looks that I wanted to do for this week's Fandom Friday. Since last week was a flashback one, I knew that I wanted to sit down and film this week. But what to do? I had made a decision. Then inspiration hit at midnight on Wednesday/Thursday and I decided to postpone that one and do a dramatic look inspired by Queen Clarion from the Pixie Hollow movies.

GET READY WITH ME [Shopping Edition]

Tuesday, 24 November 2015

I went for a jaunt up to Belfast yesterday for a singing lesson and a fleeting moment of shopping to re-purchase my foundation as I was running out. I decided to set my camera up and film how I did my makeup. It isn't my everyday makeup routine but it kind of has been the way that I've been doing it lately when I've been going out.

The Eyeliner That Is Worth The Hype To Me

Monday, 23 November 2015

The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner has been doing the rounds for about a year now. I first heard about it through YouTubers Estée Lalonde and Amelia Liana when they bought it when in California at 2014's VidCon. It was with this eyeliner that Estée felt that she really managed to master that dreaded wing. Because I wasn't a 'Master of the Wing' at the time, this eyeliner was the last thing on my makeup wishlist. I experimented and taught myself with cheaper alternatives. That was until September came around.

FLASHBACK FRIDAY TUTORIAL || Captain Kathryn Janeway

Friday, 20 November 2015

It's another Pictorial turned Video tutorial. During the week, I had no idea what I wanted to do for this Friday's upload. After doing my Alter-Ego look from earlier in the week, I couldn't find the desire to do any kind of look. I have pages of looks that I want to do, lists of ideas and face-charts drawn out but nothing jumped out at me as something that I wanted to do above all else. Therefore, I decided to edit the footage from a pictorial tutorial that I did from back in May. That way I can get it uploaded and still do a Fandom Friday post. As you can probably tell by the cover photo and the title, I decided to upload the tutorial I did for Captain Kathryn Janeway from Star Trek: Voyager

T H E    T U T O R I A L

Hopefully something will jump out at me over the weekend and I'll have something new for you all on Tuesday and Friday. [I've decided to do video uploads on Tuesday and Friday. Tuesdays are not a guarantee whereas Friday is a definite uploaded day.]

GET THE LOOK || Dr. Michaela Quinn [Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman]

Wednesday, 18 November 2015

It's been a while since I have done a 'Get The Look' post on my blog. I hadn't planned on doing one but as usual, the inspiration for these hit me when I'm least expecting them to. I was in New Look a couple of weeks ago and everything I saw reminded me of Doctor Michaela Quinn from Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman et voila, this post was born.

TUTORIAL || My Alter Ego Come To Life

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

This tutorial is something new for me. It's not based on anything or inspired by a character. It's actually how I imagine my alter-ego to look like. For those of you that don't know, "Kazzie" is my nickname and was given to me when I first started to become a fangirl. Over the years that I've been online, it has become a bit of of an alter-ego for me. She's my more confident side, my more creative side and my more spontaneous and happy side. The side of me that 'Kazzie' signifies is almost quite alien to those that don't know of her. i.e. those in my real-life that only get to see that side of me in sporadic bursts of energy. I decided to bring this side of me to life.

September and October Favourites

Monday, 16 November 2015

I know that it's mid-November now and that this post is super-duper late but if you read my update post from last week, you'll know that I've had some major computer problems. Then with those computer problems came editing problems and getting a photo editing software back onto the laptop that I feel will do what I want was not a pretty experience. Nevertheless, here we are and I have my favourites from the past two months.

TUTORIAL || Solitaire [Live and Let Die] 2 Makeup Looks

Friday, 13 November 2015

This week's Fandom Friday, the first one since my Hallowe'en series, is on Solitaire from Live and Let Die. What's more is that you get a two-for-one because I did two of Solitaire's looks.

If you've been following me on my social media accounts, you may or may not know that I have a bit of an obsession with Jane Seymour at the moment. I found Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman on TV a couple of weeks ago. It reignited my adoration for this woman. So, I've been marathoning Dr. Quinn with all the envy going for Jane Seymour. All the envy,

Naturally, that lead me to watching Live and Let Die where she played tarot card reader, Solitaire. Here, have a gif spam of Solitaire.

TUTORIAL || Slashed Maleficent X Maleficent Inspired Makeup Look

Monday, 9 November 2015

Hallowe'en is over but since my channel has been focusing on looks that are largely unwearable on a day-to-day basis, it doesn't really matter when this is posted so here we are. If you read my Update Post from last week, you will know that I have had some technical difficulties lately. Long story short, my new laptop is up and running and I'm back with a new tutorial. Finally. It feels so good to be able to edit again. Is that weird?

This look is inspired by the idea that I had of what if Angelina Jolie's Maleficent had been slashed and underneath was the cartoon Maleficent? Initially, I had the idea and a face-chart drawn out for a cyborg cartoon Maleficent (because, why not?) but then this idea came to me and I ran with it instead.

T H E    T U T O R I A L

Hopefully, everything will be back on some kind of schedule now. I have blog posts ready that I need to edit photos for and I have both beauty and more adventurous tutorials planned. Feel free to leave any requests.

Quick Update

Thursday, 5 November 2015

Hey everyone, I wanted to write a little post to explain what has been going on for the past week and to explain why the last Halloween tutorial didn't go up last Friday.

Last Wednesday, I went to turn my laptop on and as it started to boot up it stopped suddenly and started to display a message saying, "No bootable device detected - please restart system". Naturally, I tried everything that I could think of before allowing panic to set in. Google nor Smarties had the answer I had only purchased that laptop less than 10 days previously and for it to do this was something that I never expected to happen. It was brand new! Within minutes I was in the car and taking it back to the store that I got it in hopes that they could do something to fix it.

In a nutshell, nothing could be done.

That was on the Wednesday. On the Friday, my Mum and I went to Sprucefield to pick out a new one with the money that the company gave us back for the busted one. After listening and talking with one of the sales team, we picked out a new laptop. I finally have it up and running now and I'm back on the internet. There is only so much that one can do with an iPad Mini to be honest.

Hopefully, I can install the new editing program that I got for the other laptop and videos will resume as soon as humanly possible. I have been chomping at the bit to get new tutorials done as I've been drawing out face-charts and getting inspiration for looks that I want to do. Plus, I've been marathoning Dr Quinn: Medicine Woman, which I haven't been able to watch it years - thank you, TV Gods for that sucktacular decision!

Here's hoping that this laptop enjoys a long and healthy life with me and thank you all for your patience. Let's get to it!
