Be Bold For Spring
I'm pushing the boat out on this one and pushing myself out of my comfort zone and embracing bold, bright lipsticks. Deep breaths, people! I love bright lipsticks. I do. I have a number of them in my collection and look at them longingly for the day when I can wear them, i.e. Spring. I dream of having that beautiful orange-red lip or that bright pink pout. But, I'm a massive coward and chicken out at the last minute before going out the door and I opt for a more neutral colour. Therefore in this post, I'm putting myself out there and I'm wearing those brighter lipsticks.
Here's the thing, I know that they suit me. When going through my makeup routine, I make sure that I've done everything right previously - I go with the neutral eye makeup and the subtle blush and there's no reason why I can't work that bright lip. As soon as that colour is on those lips, it seems to spark off an "OMG TOO MUCH!" alarm in my eyeballs and I have to abort. Below are the brighter colours in my lip collection and I see how they look.
RIMMEL MOISTURE RENEW LIPSTICK - 360 AS YOU WANT VICTORIA
RIMMEL MOISTURE RENEW LIPSTICK - 066 IN LOVE WITH GINGER
LIPSTICK QUEEN ENDLESS SUMMER LIPSTICK - ALOHA
TANYA BURR COSMETICS LIPGLOSS - EXOTIC ISLAND
BOURJOIS COLOR BOOST GLOSSY FINISH LIPSTICK - FUCHSIA LIBRE
No7 STAY PERFECT LIPSTICK - 205 POMEGRANATE*
NYX MATTE LIPSTICK - MLS20 AUDREY
BOURJOIS ROUGE VELVET EDITION LIPSTICK - 04 PEACH CLUB
Do any of you struggle with the confidence to wear bright lip colours outdoors? I'll wear them around the house without a care in the world but I'm eternally afraid of looking too 'done up' when going out for whatever reason. I love the two Rimmel lipsticks and I'm desperate to give Audrey a test run but my confidence just isn't there. I have no bright lip game, people. I gotta be bold. That's all there is to it.
Disclaimer: the No7 lipstick was gifted to me by Boots as part of their #BeautyTimeMachine Twitter reward promotion. They asked followers to tweet them photos of our retro beauty favourites and I replied with Katharine Hepburn. They in turn gifted me several beauty related items, this lipstick was a part of that gift. I was not paid in any way to use or feature this lipstick in my blog.
Gorgeous colours! I especially love the pinkish ones. They really look amazing on you. I really want to start wearing more bright lipsticks too (I think we have talked about this before :')), but sometimes I just lack the courage. Definitely going to make an effort now though. xx
ReplyDeleteI actually went out last night with the NARS Audacious lipstick in the Lana shade on. I was soooo self-conscious for a bit but then it wore off and I felt so great about it. I loved it. At times, I think we have to tell ourselves to not care if we're going outside with a bright lip colour. Somebody may love it and ask where it's from. Life is too short to worry about what people think of our lip colour, right? Be bold!
