TRIBUTE || David Bowie "Jareth" [Labyrinth] Inspired Makeup

I remember the first time that I watched Labyrinth as a child. I fell absolutely in love with it. I loved everything about it. The characters. The costumes. The puppets. The premise. The songs. Magic Dance is still one of my favourite songs. Jareth, the Goblin King, is still one of my favourite characters. He's iconic for my generation. I loved everything about him. His style. His look. His hair. His sultry voice. Everything.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl whose stepmother always made her stay home with the baby. And the baby was a spoiled child, and wanted everything to himself, and the young girl was practically a slave. But what no one knew is that the king of the goblins had fallen in love with the the girl, and he had given her certain powers. So one night, when the baby had be particularly cruel to her, she called on the goblins for help!

When I heard that David Bowie passed away on Monday, I was in utter shock. I couldn't believe it - the Goblin King was gone. I'm probably still a little bit in denial as I type this.

I wanted to do something in tribute to one of the most influential people in my life - doing a makeup look inspired by him seemed appropriate. I'm not doing this to in any way garner more views for my blog or YouTube channel or gain subscribers. That is not what I'm doing. This is me, Kazzie, paying tribute to one of the most pivotal characters in my life.

Something that made filming this really special was the moment when I filmed the makeup. I was listening to one of my playlists on Spotify on shuffle as I was filming. As I placed the final lip colour on and moved to the highlighter, Magic Dance started to play. It was beyond weird and spooky. It felt like a sign.  A sign that my look was good, like it was accepted....like it was approved....I don't know but it was such an extraordinary moment. I could't have planned it if I wanted to.

If you watch the video, thank you. If you don't want to watch it, I understand. This is my way of paying tribute to a legend.

You remind me of the babe. [What babe?]
The babe with the power. [What power?]
The power of voodoo. [Who do?]
You do.[Do what?]
Remind me of the babe.
