BOOKS THAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

Up until a few years ago, I had never been the kind of person that looked forward to the release of a new book - mostly because I never knew when books were going to be released. It wasn't until three years ago that I realised that there was such a thing as 'New Book Day'. 'New Comic Book Day' sure (though I mostly thought it was something made up for The O.C. and The Big Bang Theory) but not 'New Book Day.' Now, I'm that person that counts down the months, weeks, and days to the release of a particular new book. Sometimes it can be because it is from a particular author or the sequel to a series that I'm in the middle of reading or it could simply be a book that has tickled my fancy on Goodreads and BookTube.

Here are a few of the books that I am most excited to get my mitts on in the latter(-ish) half of 2020.

(ONCE UPON A CON BOOK 3)

Following Geekerella (Cinderella) and The Princess & the Fangirl (The Prince & the Pauper). the Once Upon A Con series continues with a Beauty & the Beast retelling in Bookish & the Beast.
SYNOPSIS
Rosie Thorne is feeling stuck—on her college application essays, in her small town, and on that mysterious General Sond cosplayer she met at ExcelsiCon. Most of all, she’s stuck in her grief over her mother’s death. Her only solace was her late mother’s library of rare Starfield novels, but even that disappeared when they sold it to pay off hospital bills.
On the other hand, Vance Reigns has been Hollywood royalty for as long as he can remember—with all the privilege and scrutiny that entails. When a tabloid scandal catches up to him, he's forced to hide out somewhere the paparazzi would never expect to find him: Small Town USA. At least there’s a library in the house. Too bad he doesn’t read.
When Rosie and Vance’s paths collide and a rare book is accidentally destroyed, Rosie finds herself working to repay the debt. And while most Starfield superfans would jump at the chance to work in close proximity to the Vance Reigns, Rosie has discovered something about Vance: he’s a jerk, and she can’t stand him. The feeling is mutual.
But as Vance and Rosie begrudgingly get to know each other, their careful masks come off—and they may just find that there’s more risk in shutting each other out than in opening their hearts.

(SCHOLOMANCE BOOK 1)

A deadly magic school? Dark magic? SIGN ME UP!!
SYNOPSIS
A Deadly Education is set at Scholomance, a school for the magically gifted where failure means certain death (for real) — until one girl, El, begins to unlock its many secrets. There are no teachers, no holidays, and no friendships, save strategic ones. Survival is more important than any letter grade, for the school won’t allow its students to leave until they graduate… or die! The rules are deceptively simple: Don’t walk the halls alone. And beware of the monsters who lurk everywhere. El is uniquely prepared for the school’s dangers. She may be without allies, but she possesses a dark power strong enough to level mountains and wipe out millions. It would be easy enough for El to defeat the monsters that prowl the school. The problem? Her powerful dark magic might also kill all the other students.

T H E    I N V I S I B L E    L I F E    O F    A D D I E    L A R U E - V.E. SCHWAB

One of my most anticipated books of 2020. I have watched V.E.Schwab chronicle her writing process for this book over the past year or so. This book has been nearly a decade in the making since Schwab conceived the idea overly 8 years ago. It is only now that she felt confident enough to write it and do it the justice that it deserves. I cannot wait for this story of the girl who sold her soul to the Devil to live forever with the caveat that people will never remember her.
SYNOPSIS
France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

(LOVE AND GELATO BOOK 3)

Santorini? Greece? Sign me up!!!

I haven't managed to read any of the other books in the Love & Gelato series. I do own the first one on eBook. By the time Love & Olives comes out, I will hopefully read the companion books. But since this is set in Santorini, Greece, I'm all for it.
SYNOPSIS
Evie Varanakis doesn’t have a lot of fond memories of her father, which makes sense—he fled to Greece when she was only eight. What Evie does remember, though, is their shared love for Greek myths and the lost city of Atlantis. So when Evie suddenly receives a postcard from her father explaining that National Geographic is funding a documentary about his theories on Atlantis—and will she fly out to Greece and help?—Evie jumps at the opportunity.
But when she arrives to Santorini, things are a little…awkward. There are so many questions, so many emotions that flood to the surface after seeing her father for the first time in years. And yet Evie doesn’t want their past to get in the way of a possible reconciliation. She also definitely doesn’t want Theo—her father’s charismatic so-called “protégé”—to witness her struggle.
And that means diving into all that Santorini has to offer—the beautiful sunsets, the turquoise water, the hidden caves, and the delicious cuisine. But not everything on the Greek island is as perfect as it seems. Because as Evie slowly begins to discover, her father may not have invited her to Greece for Atlantis, but for something much more important.

Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister’s killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that’s been long forbidden.
Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia’s side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women’s murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems…
